1,4 x 27,5 mm , is not too soft for me, distance from servo arm to triple clamp is 51 mm

I simply got me 10 or 20 of 2x28, 2x30 and 2x32.
that way I can adjust it to the track, and have enough spare if one breaks or wears out (they tend to do that over time)

the bp8 is very light, you don't need much steering input.

Start with a soft o-ring, and go from there.
